What are Veneers?

Dental veneers, also called porcelain veneers, are extremely thin shells of tooth-colored ceramic that bond to the front surface of your teeth. They are used to create the look of natural teeth while correcting cosmetic issues, such as damaged, discolored, misshapen, or widely spaced teeth.

The Veneer Process

If you’re concerned about the appearance of your teeth and don’t have significant tooth damage that may require a crown, you may be a good candidate for veneers. If you and the dentist decide that veneers are a smart option, it can take around three appointments to finish the entire process. This process includes the initial diagnosis, “designing” your smile, preparation, and finally bonding. The procedure itself is relatively painless, as only a small layer of tooth is buffed off to make room for the veneer. Most patients require nothing more than a local anesthetic.
